DREAMS DOMINICUS

Great For:

* Couples looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway

* Families with young children

* Food lovers

* Destination weddings and honeymoons

* Travellers wanting easy access to Saona & Catalina Island excursions

What I Loved:

* Some of the best food I've had at an all-inclusive

* No restaurant reservations required

* Gorgeous Blue Flag beach with crystal-clear turquoise water

* Beautiful main pool and swim-up bar

* Spacious Honeymoon Suite with hammock & jacuzzi

* Very walkable with shops just outside the resort

* Great beach BBQs and plenty of daytime activities

* Stunning atmosphere after dark

Not My Favourite:

* Butler service was disappointing

* Beach chairs filled up quickly unless you paid extra for premium beds

* Disco below the Honeymoon Suites could be heard at night

* Spa feels dated

* Café lacked some specialty drinks and ice cream

* Quiet nightlife compared to other Dreams resorts

Overall:

* A beautiful, relaxed resort with outstanding food and one of the prettiest beaches in the Dominican Republic. Best for couples and families who value a laid-back atmosphere over nightlife.

DREAMS ONYX

Great For:

* Families with kids of all ages

* Couples who enjoy having lots to do

* Waterpark and lazy river lovers

* Groups travelling together

* Guests who like having access to two resorts (Breathless)

What I Loved:

* Modern, stylish rooms

* Huge lazy river, water slides and splash park

* Access to Breathless next door for extra restaurants and entertainment

* Great variety of restaurants

* Lots of activities throughout the day

* Beautiful grounds with plenty to explore

* Preferred Club perks were worth it

Not My Favourite:

* Atlantic Ocean meant rougher water and less of that calm Caribbean feel

* Main pool wasn't my favourite compared to other Dreams resorts

* Pool bar lacked the atmosphere I was hoping for

* Large resort means more walking

* Didn't have the boutique, relaxing vibe of some other Dreams properties

Overall:

Dreams Onyx is a fantastic choice for active families and anyone who loves having endless amenities and entertainment. While I personally prefer the calmer Caribbean water and more relaxed atmosphere at Dreams Dominicus, I'd happily recommend Onyx to families looking for a fun-filled all-inclusive with something for everyone.
